The End of Consensus Research?
This is the clearest example yet of AI winning on a hard distributed systems problem where human researchers have spent decades. The protocol combines three distinct optimizations selected per-workload and topology. For infrastructure builders: this suggests the next generation of databases and state machines will be designed by AI, not humans. For investors: if frontier models can do consensus protocol design, they can do protocol design anywhere. The architectural implications are huge.
